The Buddhist Cultural Preservation Project
The people of Nepal mostly are either Hindus or Buddhists. Both of these religious practices define their daily routines and way of life.
While on our trek into the Tapting region for the library project, we were privileged to visit a local monastery. The monastery did not have any monks in residence and the actual sanctuary was being used to store grain by the local family. As Buddhist by birth and as lover of my culture I couldn't bear the shock of this scene. So I felt that this is very urgent to help preserve Buddhist culture in the area.
To that end, The HED Project has committed its resources to help fund the support of monasteries in remote regions of the Himalayas. This will include supporting the education of monks and the staffing of monasteries.
Expected expenses on tuition per monk student $ 250 per year.
