TAMANG VILLAGERS RELOCATION AND EDUCATION

The Himalayan Education Development Project(HED) was made aware of a situation in which 58 Ethnic Tamangs were forced to live in caves near the Langtang National Park for more than 150 years.

Due to the natural disaster their village was wiped out and they were forced to live a life of hunting and gathering age.  This had come to notice through The Himalayan Times daily in Kathmandu.  The news further says that recently nearest bridge linking the caves to a government school was washed by the river.  So their 28 kids of school age couldn't attend school.  HED has committed part of its future resources to helping rebuild the village and bridge. We also are working on the behalf of the 28 children in this village. HED wishes to fund their tuition, as well as provide school supplies and adequate clothing so that they can join school.  Expected expenses for bridge $ 1000.00 and educational expenses for 28 kids $ 4300 per year ($ 153 per child per year).
